For me, painting is true freedom.
"These sketches are a record of my daily life that I never intended to publish."
Harry Ota, a Japanese artist based in the United States, has finally published a book of unpublished sketches he has been collecting on a daily basis.
His dreamlike yet satirical works blend into the reader's everyday life, providing new discoveries with each viewing.
This book was born from the feelings of a Japanese person who moved to the United States at a young age and has survived there. You will never get bored of this book, as you will discover something new every day you open it.
Each piece reflects the feelings and emotions of the day, and with each turn of the page you can encounter the artist's "stories hidden in everyday life."
This is not just a collection of works, but something that can be savored over time and that will gain depth over the years. It will become an "art book in your everyday life" that will accompany the reader for a long time.
In his youth, he was unable to pursue a career as an artist due to numerous obstacles, but now he expresses his experiences through his diary, a medium that does not presuppose publication.
The embossed cover gives it a special feel, and combined with the diary-style works, it gives the feeling that the book is quietly blending into your life.
