A vessel created using the virtual potter's wheel system "Roquro."

Although it has a shape that looks like it was created in virtual space, the body is finished with a glaze that has a nice matte texture and feels surprisingly comfortable in your hand.

The pieces are made using a technique called casting, using a plastic prototype designed and 3D printed on Roquro. The bisque clay is produced by artisans in Hasami, Saga Prefecture, and then glazed and fired in a workshop in Tokyo.

What is Roquro?
Roquro is a modeling tool that uses infrared sensors to sense hand movements, enabling intuitive shaping, similar to operating a potter's wheel. By adopting Roquro, it is not only possible to create complex shapes that are difficult to model with clay, but also to create expressions that are unique to digital technology. If Roquro becomes established as a technique, it has the potential to transform ceramic manufacturing techniques, which normally take a long time to master, and the traditional ceramic production process itself.
