2021.03.31

BEAMS launched the project “BEPPU* Local Paragraphs” with Beppu City, Oita Prefecture, and published the tabloid newspaper “BEPPU* Local Paragraphs 2020” produced with students attending two universities in the city (Beppu University and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University). will be distributed free of charge in Beppu City and BEAMS Oita.
Until now, we have been disseminating the charm of Beppu's manufacturing to the whole country through "BEAMS EYE on BEPPU" (" BEAMS JAPAN"), but in "BEPPU* Local Paragraphs", we will be introducing the charm of local people's lives and economy during the coronavirus pandemic. We will focus on activities and learning, and think about Beppu's culture and its future.
In this project, we worked with guest editors who are active in various genres and students who were recruited from the public to conduct research and workshops on Beppu's important cultural resources, such as communal hot springs, private shops, and boarding houses. We summarized those results in a tabloid.
It is a worthwhile read, filled with tips for solving the problems faced by the region and the diverse charms of Beppu that go beyond just visiting hot springs.
Please feel free to take a look.
