2022.03.02

In order to protect the many cultures that make things that should be preserved for future generations, the project "Calling BEAMS CRAFTS IN THE MAKING" has been launched with the following three brands to create new value through the filter of fashion and connect it to the future. .

Incorporating important intangible cultural property Kurume Kasuri
Ageless and universal relaxing wear CATHRI

Five types of ceramics representing Hizen, Saga Prefecture
Jewelry collection made to look like jewels〈HIZEN jewelry jewelry〉

Leather produced by various tanneries in the Hyogo area
HYOGO LEATHER has been incorporated into various items.

The exhibition ``Calling BEAMS CRAFTS IN THE MAKING'' will be held at ``GYRE GALLERY'' in Omotesando, Tokyo for about two months.

Amidst the coronavirus pandemic that has swept the world, the circumstances surrounding us have changed drastically in recent years, including consumer attitudes, the meaning and value of making things, and the global environmental issues that have been going on since before.

On the other hand, Japanese crafts have been passed down over many years by flexibly changing and updating themselves in response to changes in the values of generations and times.

The project ``Calling BEAMS CRAFTS IN THE MAKING'' further enhances and expands the potential of traditional techniques through the filter of fashion, and proposes ageless products with new value, bringing the culture born and nurtured from everyday life to the future. This is an activity that connects people.

Concept Movie

In line with the story created by Takuma Takasaki, we have created a video that allows you to see the world of the project.

Beyond time ~ Calling
What Calling will create in the future.
This is a small story that was inspired by that.
I created images while chasing light, wind, and water.
The reading was by Yayako Uchida.
The words become sounds, and it sounds like a song.

Director's comment

I first encountered Kurume Kasuri in 2018.

It was love at first sight.
This wonderful important intangible cultural property
I want people not only in Japan but all over the world to know about it.
CATHRI is the product of this idea.
By combining Kurume Kasuri and modern fashion,
A new vector is born.
The aim is to

“From teenage girls to grandmas in their 90s!”

Clothes that suit everyone.
Just like kimonos used to be...

HIZEN jewelry

HIZEN jewelry is a brand that recreates ceramics from Hizen, Saga Prefecture as jewelry.

The concept is to "wear ceramics like you would wear jewelry." HIZEN jewelry is a jewelry collection based on ceramics from five potteries representing the Hizen area. Ceramics, which have unique characteristics depending on the region of production, are expressed in a new category called jewelry.
*Items listed: From left: Arita ware, Imari ware, Karatsu ware, Ureshino Yoshida ware, Takeo ware

Director's comment

Arita ware, Imari ware, Karatsu ware, Ureshino Yoshida ware, and Takeo ware.

The ceramics produced by the five potteries representing the Hizen area, which everyone has heard of, have been popular for many years as the representative pottery (ware) of Japan.

Is it possible to create a collection that looks like ceramics as jewelry? We started manufacturing from this idea.
By expressing it with small parts that look like jewelry, we have brought out the charm of each piece of ceramics, which differs from region to region.

From now on, we will continue to face the pottery made in each production area,
We will gradually increase our collection.

HYOGO LEATHER

HYOGO LEATHER uses leather produced by tanners (craftsmen who tan leather) in the Hyogo area into a variety of items.

A variety of unique leathers are created by utilizing the strengths of each workshop and tanner, and are tanned in Hyogo Prefecture using 100% leather produced from raw hides, at a factory that properly manages wastewater and other waste disposal. Only leather made with is certified as <HYOGO LEATHER>.
Available items: shoes, bags, wallets, clothing
Color variations: Oiled leather (pink, gray, brown) / Washable leather (black, taupe) / Crocodile, tanned (black, beige)

Director's comment

Meeting with tanners in Hyogo.
An encounter with "leather".
This was our first attempt at manufacturing with a top priority on making the best use of the characteristics of leather.
From a craftsman: “HYOGO LEATHER can do anything when it comes to leather!”
In response to your request, we designed a wide range of items including shoes, bags, wallets, and clothes.
The designs of all collections are just basic.
We focused on expressing the charm of leather to the fullest.

We hope that you will experience the balance between quality and cost performance of HYOGO LEATHER, which Japan is proud of, and enjoy the aging of the leather, which will become even more flavorful as you use it for a long time.
