Illustrator Kiyoshi Kuroda's exhibition "Flowers and Fruits" will be held at "B GALLERY" on the 5th floor of "BEAMS JAPAN (Shinjuku)"

An exhibition by Kiyoshi Kuroda, an illustrator who depicts plants, animals, and natural organic motifs with a careful monochrome touch, will be held at B GALLERY on the 5th floor of "BEAMS JAPAN (Shinjuku)" from Thursday, August 17th to September 9th. It will be held until Wednesday, March 12th. In addition to his activities as an illustrator and art director, Kiyoshi Kuroda also presents his works as a writer.
In January 2023, a solo exhibition “Sounds of the forest, light of the forest.” will be held at (PLACE) by method in Shibuya. He presented works from the "Sounds of the Forest" series, which were created from records of his days spent exploring the forest and observing its landscapes and plants. I experimented with materials such as paper, wood, and wallpaper, and focused on the medium of illustration.
In this exhibition, as the next step, we will be presenting prototypes with illustrations on media that more closely resemble three-dimensional products, such as thick canvas and wood panels. The new work that will be announced this time will breathe new life into the way illustration works have been done up until now.

writer statement
During the production of the "Sounds of the Forest" series, which started with a residency in the Rokko Forest last year, I discovered many discoveries while exploring the forest every day that I had not noticed during my usual production in Tokyo. I wanted to create works that condensed the energy of the forest every day, so I began experimentally creating works with more three-dimensional volume.

Kiyoshi Kuroda
Born in Tokyo in 1975. Completed graduate school at Tama Art University in 2001. Since 2003, he has been working as a freelance illustrator, focusing on monochrome line drawings of animals and plants, and working in a variety of fields including advertising and murals. He is also active as an artist, participating in the art project "Place" in Barcelona, painting the ceiling of Kanda Myojin Shrine, and participating in exhibitions both domestically and internationally, including the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo and the Nam June Paik Art Center. Winner of New York ADC Award Bronze, CS DESIGN AWARD, and many others. His collections include ``To the Forest'' (2010 / Pie Books) and ``Water'' (2015 / POST).
