Artist and designer Fujio Ishimoto is influenced by the nature, landscapes, seasons, and colors of Japan and Finland, and Mustakivi is a lifestyle brand that features functional and beautiful designs created by Japanese handicrafts. A pop-up shop will be held simultaneously on the 1st and 5th floors of "BEAMS JAPAN (Shinjuku)".
Mustakivi sells a wide range of products, including textile designs such as tenugui and Tobe pottery. This time, in addition to the products we normally carry, we will also have many products that you don't usually see. Fujio Ishimoto has also decided to sell his own pottery works, the ``Bud'' series, and this time we have a collection of works that give a new look with ``an expression that looks like snow falling from above.''
In addition, on the 5th floor, a limited number of 10 items (only one color per person) will be available in BEAMS JAPAN of the Mustakivi 2 colors / new color flower base "PLEATS-Pleats-". In addition, to coincide with this event, a special color "Orange" will be released exclusively for "BEAMS JAPAN".

️Sale of Fujio Ishimoto's work "Bud"
Fujio Ishimoto's series ``Buds'' was created for the first time in Japan after returning from Finland. I use Japanese soil and glaze, and paint with a brush. The expression created by the shade of the glaze on the unique shape creates a deep flavor and gives off a sense of presence in the space. This is a work that brings a calm and warm feeling to the hearts of those who see it. This time, 10 works will be exhibited at fennica STUDIO on the 5th floor, where these "buds" are coated with white glaze, creating a new look with "an expression that looks like snow falling from above," which is one of Fujio Ishimoto's creative techniques. We will exhibit and sell.

About Fujio Ishimoto
From 1974 to 2006, Ishimoto was active worldwide as a textile designer for Marimekko, one of Finland's leading design houses.He created over 400 designs full of originality, making him the second most accomplished textile designer of all time. I did. That design is still being revived as one of Marimekko's standard designs. Since 1989, he has been working in the art department of the Finnish pottery maker Arabia, producing many expressive ceramic works including reliefs of flowers and fruits. As a potter, Ishimoto's creations are greatly influenced by the nature, landscapes, seasons, colors and shapes of Japan and Finland, and their origins lie in the original landscape of his hometown, Ehime. Ishimoto returned to his hometown for the first time in half a century in 2020, and with a new feeling in mind, he continues to create while deepening his connections with people.
