On Thursday, August 1st, BEAMS T Harajuku will be holding a sales event called "Getting to Know Shingo" to commemorate the release of "PLAY THE NEW CLASS IC" by buyer Arai Shingo!

To commemorate the release of Vol. 7 of the personal book series "I AM BEAMS," which captures the charms of individual BEAMS staff members who have a deep passion for fashion and lifestyle, and "PLAY THE NEW BEAMS IC" by BEAMS men's casual buyer Arai Shingo, an event called "Getting to Know Shingo" will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1st, the same CLASS the book is released, at BEAMS T Harajuku, where Arai previously served as store manager.
At this event, not only will the book be on sale, but the store will be specially designed to display items introduced in "PLAY THE NEW CLASS IC," and Arai will be in the store as the store manager for one day only (only during the event from 19:00 to 21:00). The main event will be a talk session with guest speakers including BEAMS seniors and alumni whom Arai respects, who appear in the interview pages of the book. In addition, event-only T-shirts will be on sale. Don't miss the behind-the-scenes stories of the book and episodes that couldn't be told in the book, which you can only hear here.

Shinsuke Nakata, Director of "Unlikely"
He joined BEAMS as an opening staff member of BEAMS PLUS BEAMS PLUS became a director in 2012. He then worked as BEAMS' chief buyer and general director of men's casual wear. He will leave BEAMS in March 2023 and start his own brand, Unlikely, in September of the same year. His books include "Unlikely Things."
LOOPS Inc. Director Kentaro Kuwahara
Director of LOOPS Inc. After many years at BEAMS and serving as director of BEAMS T, he went independent. Currently, he is employed at a product manufacturing company, while also working independently in fashion and art-related jobs. He has been Arai's senior for 20 years, and is loved by him as an older brother.
Takehiko Suzuki, Men's Casual Fashion Buyer at BEAMS and Apparel Director at BEAMS JAPAN BEAMS JAPAN
Joined BEAMS in 1996, and is currently the head of men's casual wear buying and apparel director for BEAMS JAPAN. While gaining experience as a salesperson at flagship stores such as BEAMS Harajuku, he has also worked in planning meetings to come up with numerous hit items and long-selling staples. He is known as "BEAMS' Ikkyu-san" and is the backbone of the buyers, specializing in clever planning. He also has a secret life as an artist.
SSZ Kato, Men's Casual Buyer BEAMS and Director of SSZ
Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1973. Buyer for BEAMS and director for SSZ. In 2012, he was appointed buyer for SURF&SK8. In 2017, he launched SSZ and is active as both designer and director. He is also a vegetable farmer as the fourth generation owner of Kato Farm in his hometown of Kamakura.

Shingo Arai Profile
Shingo Arai
Born in 1980, he joined BEAMS as a shop staff member in 2003. After serving as the manager of BEAMS T Harajuku, he was appointed buyer for the men's casual wear department in 2017. He is a hit maker at BEAMS, having created over 100 Special order projects to date. He has worked on many global projects and is well-known for his communication skills connecting Japan and overseas. From the spring/summer 2024 season, he will launch the tennis brand Setinn, which proposes a style that connects on-court and off-court. He has been playing tennis since he was a child, and his skills are well-known, having participated in the intercollegiate tennis tournament during his student days.
