Fukusuke, Special order from BEAMS JAPAN, is made using traditional glassblowing techniques. A new addition to the familiar "Lucky Charms Series." Fukusuke dolls have been popular since the late Edo period as lucky dolls that are said to bring good fortune, and are characterized by their large heads, topknots, and lucky ears. They are worn in kamishimo (traditional Japanese formal attire), sit on cushions, and are popularly displayed on shelves in storefronts. They are carefully crafted by artisans at a glass workshop in Kagawa Prefecture, and the detailed shapes and colors give the Fukusuke dolls their depth of character. The workshop is located in a recycling facility, and about half of the products are made from recycled glass, making them environmentally friendly. They are a great item to decorate your home, or as a lucky charm or celebratory gift.
