■ Wishes put into the Hige-moji
We commissioned lettering expert Kohei Kamihoriuchi to create a powerful expression for "Great Victory," which goes even further than "Victory." Bearded characters are a uniquely Japanese culture, incorporating prayers for business prosperity and good health into letters. By using an odd number of "beards" at the end of the lines, it also carries the auspicious meaning of "continuation."

■ Design
This teacup features the bold, powerful "Great Victory" character written in "Hige Moji." On the back, the words "Beams Japan" are written in the old kana, in keeping with the traditional mood of the Hige Moji. The witty design adds a stylish accent.

Kohei Kamihoriuchi
A sign craftsman and sign painter. A sign shop that handles everything from logo design to production and installation. Their work primarily focuses on expressions incorporating "Hige-moji," a type of Edo-period calligraphy.
