This tea canister is from Fujiki Denshiro Shoten, a company founded in 1851 that continues to cherish the traditional craft of birch (birch = wild cherry bark) from Kakunodate, Akita Prefecture. The outer canister is made of plain bark, polished from the surface of wild cherry tree bark, allowing you to enjoy the unique texture of the knots that appear during polishing. With daily use, the canister will acquire a deeper luster and develop a more subdued color. The inner lid, the only tea canister not made with a molded handle, is missing a knob, allowing the inner lid to be used as a tea strainer when placing tea leaves in the teapot. The tea canister maintains the appropriate humidity, allowing tea leaves to be preserved in the best condition.

■About the tea caddy-Make sure to align the seams of the body and lid before closing the lid. Both the body and lid are made using a single wooden mold, so aligning the seams will allow the lid to close smoothly.
-As each product is handmade, there may be slight differences in how well the outer and inner lids close.
■Precautions for polished productsPolished birch crafts are not painted so that you can enjoy the natural texture of the material. Therefore, please avoid contact with water as much as possible. If moisture does get on the product, wipe it off immediately with a soft, dry cloth.
・Do not wash with water or use a dishwasher. This may cause the cherry bark to peel and the entire product to become distorted. Also, do not leave the product in a humid place for a long period of time.
・Do not store in the refrigerator. Extreme dryness may cause the skin to peel off or the entire product to become distorted.
・Please avoid direct sunlight as it may cause distortion, cracking, or fading.
