Synthesizers equipped with acoustic synthesis technology
From KORG, a leading Japanese electronic instrument manufacturer, comes an innovative 8-voice acoustic synthesizer that fuses physical vibration with precise electronic control.
Beyond simply "making a sound," we weave together the nuances and variations of sound by touching, plucking, striking, and rubbing.
It's an organic instrument that responds vividly in your hands, reacting to the player's movements and vibrations.
Acoustic synthesis
This sound generation method uses a vibrating object itself as the sound source, combined with the electronic control unique to synthesizers.
Touching, shaking, and resonating—these physical interactions and acoustic feedback directly translate into expressive sounds.
Replaceable and tunable steel resonators
It comes with 13 chromatically tuned metal steel resonators, of which you can attach any 8 to the main unit for use.
Envelope control allows you to express everything from sharp, percussive sounds to long, sustained tones.
The resonators can be easily replaced and adjusted, allowing you to customize the scale and tonal character to your liking.
Polymetric Rhythm Sequencer
The intuitive sequencer supports both step input and unquantized real-time recording.
• You can set step skips for each voice, allowing you to build complex and organic polymetric patterns.
Sequences can be saved and recalled from eight memory slots.
Modulation Mode
• Features three types of modulation. In addition to tremolo, you can select from two types of audio-rate modulation that respond to pitch.
• In AM Polyphonic Modulation mode, you can add harmonic fluctuations that are closely aligned with each pitch.
Trigger delay
• Use the shift knob to add a tempo-synced trigger delay to each resonator. The slight delay in the sound's rise adds depth and nuance to the rhythm.
Parameter Automation
All operations on the panel can be recorded into a sequence using the recording function. The movement of the knobs themselves becomes part of the performance.
Flexible integration with external devices
- External devices can control knob parameters via MIDI/USB-MIDI and CV input. Tempo synchronization via MIDI/USB-MIDI/Sync is also supported.
It's also possible to play Phase 8 using external MIDI devices, or conversely, to trigger external sound sources using Phase 8's sequencer.
