Traditional embroidery created by modern Ainu craftsmen
This special item is made of wool knit that has been shrunk to create a felt-like texture and has a soft, raised surface, and features traditional Ainu embroidery by Ainu craftsman Taeko Kimura, who is active in Asahikawa City, Hokkaido. The texture that can only be felt by hand embroidery is appealing, and the embroidery blends in with the Basque beret to create a gentle presence.

The brand was launched in Spring/Summer 2008 under the name "cable". In Spring/Summer 2013, the brand name was changed to "cableami". It is derived from Aran's traditional cable knit pattern. "ami" has two meanings: the Japanese word for knit and the French word for friend. It embodies the two ideas of creating hats by knitting and crossing various elements one by one, like a cable pattern, and of making hats that will be treasured like a friend.
