This stool won an honorable mention at the first Tendo Mokko Design Competition.
"Murai" is named after the maiden name of designer Reiko Tanabe.
The simple and beautiful design is made by combining three identical pieces of molded plywood without using any metal fittings.

■ Design
Reiko Tanabe
Born in Tokyo in 1934. After graduating from Joshibi University of Art and Design in 1957, he worked at Fujimori Kenji Design Office and Matsuda Heita Architects. In 1961, his "Murai Stool" won an award at the first Tendo Mokko Furniture Design Competition, where judges included Isamu Kenmochi and Kenzo Tange. In 1967, the product was selected for the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
