An event introducing Ainu culture, "Ainu Crafts - Kaizawa Toru and Young Creators", will be held at fennica STUDIO on the 5th floor of BEAMS JAPAN in Shinjuku.
Biratori Town is the birthplace of Ainu culture, and Ainu traditions remain strong. "Nibutani Ita" made here was the first in Hokkaido to be designated as a traditional craft in 2013. There are many other traditional woodcarvings. This time, in addition to the works of woodcarving artist Toru Kaizawa, who works in "Nibutani, Biratori Town" of "Kita no Kobo Tsutomu," with whom we have had a long-standing relationship, we will be showcasing "Nibutani Ita" by three young craftsmen active in Biratori Town for the first time at fennica.
This time, we have prepared a limited number of "Ainu Crafts" by Toru Kaizawa, Takuo Kato, Ryo Nishiyama, and Taikan Hiramura. This is a rare opportunity, so please look forward to it.
