The xx, who were hailed as the best act at Fuji Rock Festival '17 and are described as "the best indie band of our time," held their solo performance "I See You Tour" in Tokyo and Osaka in February 2018. In preparation for this tour, BEAMS will release the second collaboration project with The xx.
This time, as a capsule collection, we have a richer variety of items than the first edition released in summer 2017. Based on the key color black, which is also the member's style, the motif is the artwork of The xx 's latest album "I See You" and the cherry blossom, Japan's national flower. The tag is also a special design created for this collection to celebrate the Japan performance.
We received comments from Romy Madley Croft, the vocalist and guitar player for The xx, about this collection and a message for their Japanese fans.
We have been including more color in our clothing personally and I've been wearing lots of clothes with flowers on, I love how it looks. Beams suggested incorporating the cherry blossom and it felt right! A connection to Japanese tradition and to our new colorful exploration.
(Compared to the first collection last summer) We wanted to add more color. Moreover, I personally like flower motifs, so I thought items like that would be great. When BEAMS suggested cherry blossoms, which are Japan's national flower, it clicked. This is where our search for new colors and Japanese tradition come together.
We love merch and are excited to create special limited edition items for our fans in Japan, we are so pleased with how it turned out.
I love this collection and am excited to have something special for all my Japanese fans. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it will be released.
We are soooooooo excited to come back to Japan! It is one of our favorite places in the whole world.
I'm so happy to be able to return to Japan (for my solo performance in February)! Japan is one of my favorite places in the world.
