This jacket faithfully reproduces the "Modified (MOD.)" model, which has a history of being modified from a sheepskin collar to a wool rib knit to prevent interference with the larger helmets that came with the arrival of jet aircraft. The jacket even realistically reproduces the "residue" where the waist rib on the back was removed and re-stitched, as the body had to be turned inside out during the modification work. The jacket boasts details that will make fans drool, such as the "white label" added to the collar as proof of the official modification, and the transfer of the USAF (United States Air Force) insignia applied according to the 1956 instructions, condensing the deep story of vintage military wear.
