Product description
From the foot of Mt. Fuji to the world, traditional textiles add color to your journey.
This passport case is from Makita Shoten, a long-established textile company located at the foot of Mt. Fuji in Yamanashi Prefecture, which handles everything from fabric production to umbrella assembly. It features a jacquard pattern inspired by the majestic form of Mt. Fuji, a symbol of Japan, and is appealing for its vibrant colors and the warmth of a hand-drawn illustration. Not only does it hold a passport, but it also has a convenient card pocket inside for storing credit cards and other items. The simple design, which deliberately eliminates unnecessary elements, supports smooth access while traveling. This is a high-quality item that will enrich your travels, filled with the skills of craftsmen.

■ Special order points
Original design by textile designer Yumi Yoshimoto.

Yumi Yoshimoto
Based in Yamanashi Prefecture, she is a textile designer who freely manipulates the impression of fabric. She creates patterns and designs that make the most of the texture of hand-drawn art, and is involved in a wide range of activities from planning and designing fabric products to collaborations. She also presents textile products that draw inspiration from natural landscapes and utilize "Gun'nai Orimono," a type of textile produced in Yamanashi Prefecture.
We started our business in 1866 as a wholesaler of Kai silk textiles in Nishikatsura-cho, Yamanashi Prefecture. In 1946, the business, which had been dormant after the war, made a fresh start as <Makita Shoten>. In 1954, we began producing umbrella fabric and established a national position in ``yarn-dyed Western umbrella fabric.'' Today, we have grown into a company that handles everything from design to fabric manufacturing and product production, which is rare in Japan.
