It was made in the latter half of the Meiji era (1897) by applying the European plaster mold technique (Seto Novelty Manufacturing) used for dolls for overseas CHUGAI TOEN. Painted using Seto's traditional dyeing technique, the Maneki-Neko with its cute ribbon is a popular design that is highly valued as a gift. It is generally said that the right hand invites "money" and the left hand invites "many people."
