The first collection of works by dyeing craftsman Koichi Odanaka
This book, Koichi Oda's first collection of works, includes approximately 350 pieces from his early to latest works, created over a period spanning more than 50 years.
The pictures and letters that emerge after going through a number of processes - drawing the design, carving the mold, stretching the gauze, applying glue, and adding color - are all "forms" that only Odanaka can create. This book allows you to fully enjoy this "work of form."

After training for eight years at the Serizawa Dyeing and Paper Research Institute of Keisuke Serizawa, a holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property for "katae-zome," he inherited the family dyeing workshop. He continues to research and create katae-zome, as well as work on product packaging and logo design, book binding and illustrations.

In 2003, BEAMS launched a style that fuses traditional handicrafts, mainly from Japan, with new and old designs collected mainly from Scandinavia, under the theme of "bridging the gap between design and craft."
