Product description
Tenugui (Japanese hand towel) that makes the most of the texture of cotton
This tenugui (Japanese hand towel) is made by Koichi Kotanaka, who studied under Keisuke Serizawa and continues to create healthy and beautiful stencil-dyed textiles rooted in everyday life.

It is dyed using the "chusen" dyeing method, which brings out the texture of cotton, and a distinctive feature is that the color is evenly distributed on both sides.

It's great to carry around as a handkerchief, but it's also recommended to display it in your room like a tapestry and enjoy it as interior decor.

*Please note that there may be slight variations between individual items.

Koichi Odanaka
Born in Iwate Prefecture.
The third-generation owner of the Kotanaka Dyeing Studio, a dyeing craftsman, inherited his family's dyeing studio after eight years of training at the Serizawa Dyeing and Paper Research Institute, run by Keisuke Serizawa, a holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property designation for "katae-zome" (stencil dyeing).
Currently, he continues to research and create stencil dyeing techniques, and also works on product packaging, logo design, book cover design, and illustrations.
In 2003, BEAMS launched a style that fuses traditional handicrafts, mainly from Japan, with new and old designs collected mainly from Scandinavia, under the theme of "bridging the gap between design and craft." Based on the idea of "less global, more local," the store offers a lifestyle-oriented selection that goes beyond the scope of previous selections, offering not only men's and women's wear collected from all over the country, but also tableware, interior goods, and even food.
