Announcement of contemporary artist Takahiro Miyahara's solo exhibition "Your name here."
2024.01.19
B GALLERY will be holding a solo exhibition of new works by contemporary artist Takahiro Miyahara starting January 19th (Friday).
Takahiro Miyahara is a contemporary artist who studied Mono-ha and minimal art and creates three-dimensional and installation works with the theme of purity of matter.
His recent works are famous for his use of distinctive mediums such as asphalt, natural stone, silicone oil, and matte black paint, but on the other hand, he also uses cultural anthropology as his starting point to study the state of "relationships with others" and "marketing." At the same time, I am creating a series of works called ``Your name here.'' that reflect my thoughts on this.
``Your name here.'' is a phrase that was posted on a billboard that the artist encountered in the city when he went to the United States, seeking advertisers. This work is based on the artist's experience of mistranslating this as ``You are welcome to be here,'' and as a result, he felt a sense of acceptance and self-acceptance in America.
This exhibition ``Your name here.'' expands consciousness from self-approval to the recognition of others. This is marketing that transforms the act of acknowledging others and treating them with respect into a "confession of love" or "daily gratitude," and even today, as communication methods have changed dramatically due to social media and the coronavirus, many In conjunction with Valentine's Day, an event supported by Japanese people, we will reconsider the nature of philanthropy and deeds.
In addition to the new work ``Your name here.'', B GALLERY will display new works that are essential to the story of this exhibition. This is a participatory installation that is completed by viewers participating in this exhibition. Please take a look.
