Nanbu Sakiori Preservation Society
Nanbu Sakiori is a traditional craft of Aomori Prefecture born from the handiwork of women who used cotton kimonos, which were once precious in the cold climate where cotton does not grow, until they could no longer be worn, and then tore them into thin strips and woven into weft threads to regenerate them into thick cloth. The Nanbu Sakiori Preservation Society treasures the creation of traditional works, while striving to pass on and popularize Nanbu Sakiori, aiming for a more artistic upcycle.
