Masafumi Kamei's solo exhibition "Cloth To You" will be held at B GALLERY B GALLERY the 5th floor of BEAMS JAPAN (Shinjuku) from Friday, October 17th to Sunday, November 9th.
Following on from an exhibition held in Kyoto in September, this exhibition will be Kamei's second solo exhibition this year, and will feature oil paintings of "things worn" such as clothes and shoes, which are the main theme of his work, as well as two-dimensional and three-dimensional works and viewer-participation works that feature thread spools, which can be said to be a fundamental element of these things.
Masafumi Kamei's unique artistic expression, which combines the design and music he has studied and cultivated over the years, has attracted attention not only from art fans but also from music and fashion brands. This is your opportunity to see approximately 30 of his unique works, which explore the cross-sectional relationships between art, fashion, and music, centered on the perspective of "culture."
In addition, B GALLERY B GALLERY will be releasing original items such as T-shirts and bandanas created for this exhibition. Don't miss this opportunity.

Masafumi Kamei
Born in Shizuoka Prefecture in 1968. Graduated from the Dress Design Department of Kuwasawa Design School in 1989. Graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Faculty of Art and Design at Musashino Art University in 2009. Her work focuses on paintings, with clothing and wearable items as the theme.
Throughout the history of painting, clothing has been treated as an "accessory" to people, but rather than as mere decoration, she sees it as a "medium" that reflects eras, cultures, and personal stories. The image of clothing, which evokes the question of who was wearing it and where they were headed, due to the absence of a person, provides an experience that quietly touches the viewer's memories and senses. While examining the relationship between art and fashion, memory and space, and the individual and society, she continues to question the meaning of "painting" through clothing.
