Young photographer Mina Tabuchi's exhibition "FOREST" held at B GALLERY

2017.08.23

B GALLERY will hold an exhibition by Mina Tabuchi, a young photographer who won the Irie Yasukichi Memorial Photography Award in 2016 and published the photo book "into the forest."

She left her life in the city with her family and moved to the forest of Kita Karuizawa, where she continued to take photographs alone, and gradually began to sense her family in the forest. In this exhibition titled ``FOREST'', we will be displaying new photos that include carefully selected and newly taken photos with a new family theme, while retaining the forest as the subject. Unlike the award-winning work ``into the forest,'' this work reflects her inner self, and you will see a different side of the forest than the one she has portrayed up until now. Please look forward to her new challenge.

“Ever since I received a camera from my father, a photographer, as a commemorative gift for my 20th birthday, I have lived with a camera in my hand. When I hold a camera, I become more sensitive than just walking around, and I discover many things that move me. When I was 23 years old, I started living alone in the forest not for the purpose of taking photos, but because I thought it was the only way to live because of my clumsy lifestyle. I started living in the forest and photographing the forest. It was a very natural thing to do. It's been 5 years since I started living there. I still live in the forest. I have friends, and since 2 years ago my father has also been with me. I live in . Life changes. Even if the way I live, the environment, and myself change, taking photos remains the same." - Mina Tabuchi
