This confectionery plate is made by Takano Chikko, a company based in Nagaokakyo City, Kyoto Prefecture, which handles everything from cultivating high-quality bamboo to harvesting and processing it. Ikkambari is a traditional lacquer technique said to have been devised by Hirai Ikkan, one of the ten craftsmen of the Senke school of tea ceremony. High-quality Japanese paper is layered onto a base such as wood or a bamboo basket, and then lacquered in layers, creating high strength and a uniquely rich texture. The small, square plate fits well on a oshiki (a type of tray) and beautifully enhances the delicate appearance of sweets, from Japanese confectionery to Western sweets.

White lacquer: A warm white paint made by mixing white pigment into transparent lacquer.
Pine soot: A natural pigment derived from pine soot, producing a pale, matte black or gray color.

[Cleaning method]
Wash gently with a sponge and detergent. After washing, wipe dry or drain the water and let it air dry on a wire rack or similar surface.
・Prolonged immersion in water may cause deformation or mold growth.
