The third installment of the "Kyushu Pottery Exhibition - Hand Crafts of Kyushu -" will be held at "BEAMS JAPAN (Shinjuku)".

fennica, which introduces high-quality products from around the world with the theme of "bridging design and craft," will be holding its "Hand Crafts of Kyushu" exhibition again this year at fennica STUDIO on the 5th floor of BEAMS JAPAN (Shinjuku), following its great success last time.
During the exhibition, you can see works from "ONTAYAKI Sakamoto Koji Kiln," "Onta ONTAYAKI Kuroki Fumito Kiln," "Shodai-yaki Nakahira Kajiya Gama," "Shodai-yaki Mizuho Kiln," "Kajiya Kiln," "Yuko Kiln Abe Shinji," "Blown Glass Studio Kohaku," "Koishiwara-yaki Harahiko Kiln," "Koishiwara-yaki Kanemaru Kiln," "Sasaki Kaori," and "Kusagaya Kiln" all in one place.
This time, we have prepared new Special order items with "ONTAYAKI Sakamoto Koji Kiln," as well as craft items from "Shobu Gakuen," "Uzura-guruma," a traditional folk toy from Miyazaki Prefecture, by the "Uzura-guruma Preservation Society," and Jari-pan from "Michael-do."
On the first day of the event, Saturday, June 20th, BEAMS staff member Mr. Wada will be at the store to offer tastings and sales of "Imo SHOGUN," an authentic shochu from "Yamatozakura Shuzo." Please enjoy it along with the accompanying cups.
*Sales of Jaripan are scheduled to begin on Saturday, June 20th at 3:00 PM.

Hokkedake Quail Cart / Hokkedake Quail Cart Preservation Society (Kunitomi Town, Miyazaki Prefecture)
According to legend, the origin of the "quail cart" dates back to the Heian period, when Hokkedake Yakushi-ji Temple was built in Kunitomi Town, Miyazaki Prefecture. A piece of the main hall's pillar resembled the shape of a quail. A high-ranking priest saw it, added eyes and feathers, and offered it before the statue of Yakushi Buddha, praying morning and evening. It is said that soon, miraculously, the sound of quails began to be heard. This is considered the origin of the local folk toy, the "quail cart."
Furthermore, it has a history of being selected as the "Western Yokozuna" (grand champion) in the nationwide ranking of folk toys during the Taisho era.
Shobu Gakuen (Kagoshima City, Kagoshima Prefecture)
At Shobu Gakuen, we value the creative sensibilities of people with disabilities and encourage diverse forms of expression, primarily through art and music activities. Not only the people who use the workshops, but also the support staff are involved as fellow creators, and through collaboration, we aim to build equal relationships that transcend the presence or absence of disability, by moving from being "givers" to "creators." Works produced in this environment are highly acclaimed and have been exhibited both domestically and internationally.

Yamatozakura Brewery Authentic Shochu Sweet Potato Shochu Yamatozakura 720ml
The long-standing relationship between Yamatozakura Shuzo, a brewery in Ichikikushikino City, Kagoshima Prefecture, and Kenjiro Wada, the owner of Wada Kenjiro Shoten, has culminated in the release of Imo SHOGUN, the third in the series. Based on Yamatozakura Shuzo's sweet potato shochu "Yamatozakura," the label has been redesigned with an original design featuring Sakurajima, a symbol of Kagoshima. This premium shochu, Imo SHOGUN, is highly recommended as a gift for someone special.

Kenjiro Wada
Born in Kagoshima Prefecture in 1969. After working as a store staff member and buyer at BEAMS, she took on the role of training young talent and digital communication. She proposes a wide range of folk crafts from Asia to Africa in her own unique mixed style, and in Kyushu, she visits pottery kilns and plans custom-made products. She recorded the No. 1 sales ranking among staff nationwide for 11 consecutive seasons from Spring/Summer 2017 to Spring/Summer 2022.
Michael-do Jaripan
"Jari-pan" is a Miyazaki specialty that originated around 1955 at "Michael-do" in Miyazaki City. It is a type of bread roll filled with butter cream and refined sugar, and is characterized by its crunchy texture.

Founded in 1927, Michael-do Co., Ltd. is a long-established bakery and retailer known for inventing "Jari-pan," a sweet bread originating in Miyazaki Prefecture that has gained nationwide recognition after being featured on television and other media. After closing down in 2023 and undergoing a business succession in 2024, it has been revived as a Jari-pan specialty shop in Miyazaki City.
