SSZ and <canterbury>, the official partner of the Japan national rugby team, announce the "canterbury and SSZ SCRUM Collection"!

With its roots in surfing and skateboarding, SSZ sends out current moods through music, art, and messages, and has teamed up with SSZ, which continues to support Japan's rugby national team as an official partner. In collaboration, we will announce a capsule collection “canterbury and SSZ SCRUM Collection” with the theme of “SCRUM”.

The great strides made by Japan's national rugby team in 2019 are still fresh in our minds, but with the world-class rugby tournament being held from September this year, more and more people are trying to pick up a rugby jersey and enjoy life. Canterbury's desire to be incorporated into fashion as style wear and Tadayuki Kato's passion for rugby, a former member of the rugby SSZ, resonated and this capsule collection was realized.

This capsule collection features three types: a rugby shirt, cardigan, and pants, all made from canterbury's signature tough fabric and all unified in an elegant navy color.
<canterbury> has developed ``RUGGER LOOP®52/48'', a material knitted with a blend of 52% cotton and 48% polyester, which is durable, lightweight, and sweat-absorbing and quick-drying. The new RUGGER LOOP®52/48 uses a heavyweight fabric spun from the thickest thread count of all RUGGER LOOP®52/48.

The idea was to pair Canterbury's rugby shirt with an item made of the same tough material, so I decided on a cardigan that is simple and can be worn with rugby shirts, T-shirts, shirts, etc. Well, that's how I designed it. A simple V cardigan will not interfere with the collar of your rugby shirt. In addition, the mismatch between the toughness and the elegant image of the cardigan makes it a wearable piece that is typical of SSZ.

Based on the wide version of canterbury's rugby shorts, the tough material is draped and has a loose silhouette that allows for free movement. The concept of the collection is to create a setup made of the same material as a rugby shirt, and the idea is that the pants can be worn loosely and casually, similar to wearing sweatpants, but are more durable than sweatpants and will wear well when worn. I like the way the navy fades a bit, and I was aiming for an item that is somewhere between a sweatshirt and denim.
